The bowen technique is a non-invasive, holistic therapy consisting of a sequence of gentle moves over muscle and soft tissue, interspersed with periods of rest. By stimulating energy into the muscles and soft tissue the technique encourages re-alignment of the body. There is no manipulation of hard tissue and no force is used or needed.
Bowen therapy can help alleviate pain from a number of conditions including sports injuries, whiplash, sciatica and hip, knee and ankle problems.
It has also proved effective in treating bronchial and respiratory problems, high blood pressure, digestive conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, fertility problems and hormonal imbalances. Treatment at regular intervals can also help manage stress and anxiety.
Each treatment gives a full body re-balancing so a number of issues can be treated at the same time. Sessions last up to an hour and cost £40 per treatment.
The Bowen Technique is recognised by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary healthcare backed by the Department of Health.
